What's New
The CALENDAR has been updated for October and November.
Check the PROJECT AND PLANES page - This page is in the process of being updated. Thanks to all those that responded to the request for information. The SAFETY and REGS page is pretty spartan, anyone have suggestions for what it should contain? You don't have to provide all the info, just point me in the right direction and I'll look around on the web to find what to post as far as links, etc. Remember, I don't own YOUR web page, I merely (attempt) to manage it now and then!
AUGUST MINUTES: Thank you to all who visited Skyranch last weekend and helped Bob Ray celebrate his FAA Wright Brothers Award for over 50 years of active (and safe!) pilotage! Congratulations once again to Bob (and Betsy) from all the gang! We intended (Gregg and I being the herefortomentioned 'we' anyway...) to hold some semblance of a chapter meeting post award ceremony, but by the time we looked around and the food was cleaned up, all the chairs were put away and there were only clouds of dust from everyone heading out the hangar door to get some relief from the heat! So we'll have to resort to this method of notification for next month's activities. First off, our Fall 08 YE day will be on 18 Oct with a backup to fall sometime after SERFI (which is the following weekend). Suds is coordinating with the school to execute our plan of paperwork and a staggered flight schedule. Now we need to start firming up who will be available and willing to fly YE students that day. If you can help in any way, piloting an aircraft or working as ground crew, etc, please coordinate directly with Suds or Gregg as I will be TDY until the Friday prior to the event and will have limited email/internet capability. It would also be nice to have someone with a computer and printer provide the capability to print the certificates on location like we have done in the past. It should just be a template "fill-in" and overprint of the EAA certificates, no big deal to set up with a little prior work. I will forward the insurance form yet this week so it should be ready in plenty of time, just waiting on coordination of a potential b/u weekend with the school. As previously mentioned, the following weekend is SERFI. Chef Tuttle will be able to get the breakfast grill there on Sat but won't be there on Sat to help fire it up. Again, we need firm names to roger up for helping pull off our class act of serving breakfast both Sat and Sun to the fly-in attendees. Need someone to help coordinate volunteer help, preferably not a member already involved with SERFI itself but who could take responsibility for the breakfast on Sat/Sun. IN SUMMARY: YE - notify Suds/Gregg of willingness/ability to help on 18 Oct SERFI - need a coordinator and bodies to organize our breakfast commitment Secretary (adhoc VP) - need someone to assume these responsibilities by Dec your humble scribe, Gus |
